Using Online Banking

What is Online Banking?
First Federal Online banking lets you use a personal computer and telephone line (modem) to conduct your banking through the Internet, including checking balances, transferring money, paying bills and more.

How much does First Federal Online banking cost?

First Federal Online banking is FREE when you use it to access account information, balance your register and conduct transactions, such as account transfers, etc. on your personal accounts. (For Commercial Accounts contact Business Services at 843-529-5582 or toll-free at 800-768-3248 or visit your local branch).

The optional online Bill Payment service is FREE when you use it to pay at least two
(2) bills per calendar month. A $5.95 insufficient usage fee will be debited at the beginning of the month from your Primary Checking Account, if you made less than two online bill payments from any of your checking accounts during the prior month.

The Bill Payment service allows you to pay virtually anyone–companies or individuals–at any time. You can even schedule to pay recurring bills, such as car, mortgage and insurance payments. What are the software and hardware requirements?
All you need to use First Federal Online banking is a secure browser, such as Netscape NavigatorTM, America Online®, Firefox, or Microsoft Internet Explorer®. You can use any computer that accesses the Internet.

What Internet browsers can I use with First Federal Online banking?

You may use Microsoft Internet Explorer® (version 5.5 or higher), Netscape NavigatorTM (version 6.0 or higher), Firefox (version 1.5 or higher), or America Online® (7.0 or higher), or the most current version. These browsers support secure transactions over the Internet using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

How do I sign up for First Federal Online banking?
Simply go to our online enrollment form to sign up for First Federal Internet Banking.

Currently, you can access your checking, savings, money markets, CDs, IRAs or loans.

How do account transfers work?

Transfers conducted at the following times on a business day will be processed accordingly:

  • Before 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time: same business-day evening
  • After 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time: next business day

How do I use First Federal Online banking with my personal financial software?
First Federal Online banking and your personal financial software can work together to reduce the time spent managing your finances. You can export transaction information from First Federal Online banking in a Quicken, Microsoft Money® or spreadsheet format.

Can I use any version of financial software with online banking?

First Federal Online banking allows you to export transaction information from Online banking to the following formats:

  • OFX file format for Microsoft Money®
  • QIF file format for Intuit Quicken® (1999-2004)
  • QIF file format for Intuit Quicken® (99 and later; QIF formatted in International date format)
  • WebConnect QFX file format for Intuit Quicken Financial Exchange®
  • CSV file format for spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel®

Can First Federal answer questions about my Internet Service connection or my computer?
Your best source of information regarding any issues you have with your Internet connection is your Internet Service Provider (such as AOL, AT&T, or local provider). Their customer service personnel are trained to answer all your Internet connection questions. Questions concerning your personal computer should be directed to the hardware manufacturer or software company.

Can I use First Federal Online banking from outside the United States?
Yes! Just use a secure browser such as Netscape NavigatorTM, Microsoft Explorer®, Firefox, or America Online® from anywhere worldwide.

Can I printout the information on my account?
Yes.  Most screens have a "Printer Friendly" button on the upper left of the page.

Can I transfer money to my CD that allows deposits?
At this time the system will not accept transfers to a CD account. Please visit your local branch.

What if I am having a problem loading data into Quicken or Quickbooks?
Make sure you are downloading information from your First Federal account into Quicken or Quickbooks. Log into Personal Online Banking or your Business Banking account and go to the account details page of the account you want to download. Select the “Type of Export” and hit the download button. Wait until Quicken or Quickbooks opens and processes the file and then view the account information in Quicken.

Can I have more than one Bill Pay funding account?
Yes, you may need to send an email through the secure email channel to have additional funding accounts added. To change the funding account for recurring payments, edit the payment option for the payee and select the funding account from the drop down selection box. For manual payments, you will need to select the funding account for every payment that is set up; otherwise, the default funding account will be credited. Automatic payments may also need to be adjusted if you wish to switch from the default funding account.

Online Banking Support Questions

What if I am logging into the system for the first time and do not have the letters containing the password information?
You will need to call Customer Service to get this information. This is for your protection. The numbers are 843-529-5555 or 888-529-2220.

What if I receive the message "Page Cannot Be Displayed"?

If you receive the message “This page cannot be displayed,” you may First Federal Online banking lets you use a personal computer and telephone line (modem), DSL, or high speed cable connection to conduct your banking through the Internet, including checking balances, transferring money, paying bills and more tips:

  • Internet Explorer users:  Go to “Tools” then click “Internet Options”; on the “General” tab, under “Temporary Internet Files,” click “Delete Files.”

  • AOL users:  Go to “My AOL”; select “Preferences”; click on the icon WWW; click the box to delete temporary Internet Files and delete.

  • Netscape users:  Go to “Communicator”; click “Tools”; click “History”; go to “Edit” then “Select All”; go to “Edit” and click “Delete.”

  • You may also try entering the web address without the w’s (i.e. firstfederal.com instead of www.firstfederal.com).

What if I receive the message "Error #1516; This login session is not allowed..."?
This error is displayed when a previous session of Online Banking was exited without logging out. In order to close the previous session please close all open browser windows then open a new browser window and log in normally. Note: The best practice to avoid this error is to click the "Exit" link on the top menu of Internet Banking.
